What makes one a good Instructor?
I always wanted to find out what made the best Instructor that there are. So that someday I could be one myself. Was it just their tenacity, and the patience? Or the amounts and levels of practice? Or was it something else? The love for the art perhaps? That undying quest to find out how far they can go on deep into themselves through the art, undoing various mysteries of life? What made them keep going on? Certainly it wasn’t just the love of the students, for the students or by them; given the input it takes, is sooo much more than the output one receives. Or may be am mistaken in my judgement and one receives a way lot more than they give even if it is not in terms of effort and energy.
Growing up learning different disciplines in different stages of my life starting with dance first, then martial arts, then sports and then investing in various certifications and licenses in adult life like Zumba, Yoga and then bellydance, i have been a constant learner and a practitioner of many things. Come to think of it, it’s a wonder that I haven’t started a school of my own yet. Perhaps this constant drive to seek perfection keeps me off, and i know this is most common in other performing artists as much as they focus on perfecting the art way more than selling it. A lot like the “imposter syndrome” but the other way around where you feel no matter whatever do, is just not enough!
Maybe it’s the way i see things that make the difference.
What stays the same is, all the instructors run on extreme passion and close knit relationships with their students and the community around.
